Character's Information:
BG and Personality:
Sharon Rainsworth was first considered vital to the story of Pandora Hearts when she found a bleeding and battered Xerxes Break right on the floor of her home, the gruesome sight added to if only for the fact that he was also missing an eye and the injury appeared recent. From then on, her mother took care of dear Xerxes, changing him from the cold man he was to a rather easy-going (if not flamboyant) servant of the Rainsworth household. All the while, Sharon grew up alongside him, immediately coming to appreciate his presence and even thinking of him as her big brother figure, happily calling him "Xerx-nii" in her childhood. In fact, since then it's been a habit that's hard to get rid of.
The first official appearance she makes is when she comes to see Oz Vessalius on his fifteenth birthday, claiming to be acting upon her ill mother's behalf. She proceeds to butter him up eloquently state that she supports Oz and give something of a warning of dark events to come. However her stay is not long, as she is still too young to take part in the ceremony or the following ball. Despite the ominous message she gave, it seemed that she acted upon whim and nothing else. This proves false however, when young master Oz ends up being pushed into the Abyss (what can be considered a separate sector of hell that was originally considered imaginary) and Sharon can do absolutely nothing about it.
During the ten years that Oz had been gone, Sharon passed her days as per usual. Acting upon her duties, one of them being making sure that Oz's personal attendant be entered into the Nightray family, and drinking tea. However something notable happened in the same year that Oz disappeared. Sharon became an official member of Pandora. Pandora is an organization that is seen by the public as the typical security-enforcing group, but they really act against unnatural creatures called Chains. Each member of Pandora also has their own Chain, and must make a contract with them. Normally the contract would give people a certain amount of time to live before they are dragged into the deepest level of the Abyss, however Pandora uses a special method that allows its contractors to remain untouched by the seal. However Sharon was one of the rare cases that suffered a side effect, she became unable to physically age. In exchange, she was able to gain the Chain by the name of Eques, a black unicorn capable of attaching to shadows and collecting information.
So without a single change to her appearance, it wasn't long before the day came that Pandora acted to finally retrieve Oz from the Abyss. But much to their surprise, he came on his own, appearing in Sharon's home much like Break did when they first came into contact. The evening wasn't even through when it became evident that Oz had made a contract with a Chain during his time in the Abyss, and it was actually the most dangerous Chain of them all, the dreaded B-Rabbit. And thus when Oz was threatened by Break, B-Rabbit took over and decided to take Sharon hostage. The girl showed absolutely no regard for her own life, telling her servant to leave her be if that was necessary to accomplish their goal. However it seemed that such a thing wouldn't be tolerated, as Sharon was quickly rescued and could do nothing more than watch, and eventually speak on behalf of Pandora, as a very tentative agreement formed between Oz, B-Rabbit (who called herself Alice by then), and Pandora.
The next few events did not leave Sharon with much to do. As Oz went on his first Pandora mission, she did nothing to stop him or even so much as watch over him. Though when he returned to the mansion where he was sucked into the Abyss, Sharon kept tabs on him, Raven, and Alice via Eques. When Raven made his dramatic reveal that he was in fact, Oz's young servant Gilbert (but all grown-up in the past ten years), she couldn't help but tease him about it when they met up afterwards. Otherwise, her presence was unnecessary as Oz went through the challenge of coping with ten years of change.
But when Alice and Break both go missing and Emily, Break's lovely doll, is all that's left, they go to Sharon for help, thinking that leaving Emily was some sort of hint. Knowing full well what Break is planning, though she denies as much, she grants Oz and Raven access to the alternate dimension that Alice and Break were in, again using Eques. From then on, Eques attaches to Oz's shadow, able to keep track of what is happening and leave Sharon informed. When the two are attacked by Cheshire Cat, Sharon steps in and dictates Eques to fight the battle on their behalf. She demands to know what happened in the tragedy of 100 years ago, but receives no answer. Soon after, she is attacked by Echo, a servant of Vincent Nightray, and left unable to do anything to help the others. She is left defenseless, as Eques is also no longer under her power and has been taken control of by an opposing force.
Not long after she is kidnapped, she is taken to Vincent Nightray and subsequently poisoned. For a rather lengthy amount of time, she was considered missing from her home, although the search for her is done very discreetly. She is only saved when Break returns from the alternate dimension and confronts Vincent himself. But by the time her faithful servant arrives, Sharon is already in a bit of a haze due to the poison in her system. All she can do is listen as the conversation progresses to one that makes Break give up the prize he had been searching for, Alice's memories of the Tragedy of Sabrie, in exchange for the antidote to the poison. However when it comes to the point where Break must choose to destroy it himself, Sharon intervenes best she can, insisting that she is all right and that Break shouldn't do as Vincent says. But her attempts are found to be in vain as Break proceeds to destroy the memories anyway, telling her that it would be all right. After a close call with the antidote almost being dropped off the balcony, Sharon is then treated and falls asleep, very exhausted from the distressing day.
When she wakes, it seems that all the anger she held up until that moment is quickly released. Proceeding to mock Break's words about how everything would be okay, since as far as she's aware it was most certainly not okay, she quickly administered his punishment via paper fan and pillow. All for her sake, he managed to destroy what they had been looking for. But when he proceeds to say that it wasn't for her sake, and merely to save his own life from the wrath of her mother, it manages to catch her off-guard and quell the rest of her anger. Any violent actions are then halted as she is left only with feelings of regret, for being unable to protect herself and for hindering him. Unable to hold back any tears, she expresses her sadness and clings to her good ol' big brother figure, even going back to the habit of calling him "Xerx-nii".
For a while after that, Sharon is more or less out of commission. As Oz, Raven, and Alice go back to be reunited with his darling sister, she remains in the manor with Break. But as the group of three return, not in the best of spirits, she notices the rather gloomy atmosphere. While she finds the distance between Raven and Oz refreshing for a few moments, she's immediately distracted by the ever-so-cute romantic troubles of Miss Alice. Quickly finding herself in a fit of adoration for the girl, Sharon insists that Alice should start considering her as her older sister. The day continued like that for a while, and it included the beatings of Break and Oz whenever they said or did something that Sharon was less than pleased with. The long day ended with Oscar, Oz's affectionate uncle, stopping by the manor and offering them all wine-- though he preferred to call it juice. It was made clear then just how quirky Sharon could get, as light was shed upon the fact that apparently she developed a queen-complex when drunk. Naturally the night could not be complete without a few unreasonable demands and haughty name-calling.
Abilities:
As a member of Pandora, Sharon is able to command a creature called a Chain, via a contract she formed with that Chain. While forming a contract with a Chain is normally considered illegal, as it places your life in danger, Pandora developed a method for the contractors to live on without worrying about their eventual death. However there is occasionally a case with side-effects and the contractor also stops aging. Sharon is an example of such a case, as she's past the age of 20, but is still restricted to the physical age of 13.
And as far as what Sharon's Chain is capable of, it comes in the form of a black unicorn named Eques. It is able to attach itself onto shadows and is able to keep track of the person who its attached to, allowing Sharon a number of options. She can communicate with that person, keep track of their location, send other people to their location, and send Eques to protect them if things turn into a battle.
First-Person Sample:
*A loud neigh can be heard through the halls of the compound, then a long silence. A silence that lasts until out of the shadows on one of the walls, a young woman tumbles out, quickly followed by a large back unicorn with a flaming black mane.*
Ow...Eques! I didn't even ask to move through a shadow, that is Break's job.
*This was no way a young woman of the Rainsworth household should be treated. Getting to her feet and patting down her dress*
I swear you would...
*Looking around finally and noticing this is not where she wanted to go.*
Oh my...this is not my home...or any other I know.
*The aura of angry is almost radiating off of her*
...Break, oh Break~ I would like to have a word...now~
*There is a anger laced in the tone.*
What other characters do you play here?: Fang, Kisa Sohma, Kuro, Miharu Rokujou, Shido, Konome
Tell us what your character has on them: The blood seal necklace which allows her to use the chain as a legal contract so Equis will be with her because of that, Fans....they are hidden everywhere, a tea cup as she seems to always have one with her.
Why do you want this character?: I haven't gotten to play her a extreme amount and would really like the chance to develop her more and get her to grow.
